Frequently asked

How do I track a shift? On the Clock screen, tap Begin Tour to clock in, then use Out / In to Lunch, breaks, and End Tour as your day goes. Forgot to clock in? Use Begin Tour at Custom Time to backfill the right start time — even an earlier date for an overnight tour.

How does Pay Estimate work? In Settings → Pay Estimate, you enter your own hourly rate and any overtime / premium rates — the app never assumes a number. Reports then shows an estimated gross from the hours you’ve tracked. It’s an estimate and excludes taxes and deductions; it may differ from your official pay.

Does my data sync across devices? Yes — punches, schedules, alarms, and your active tour sync across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch through your own iCloud. Make sure each device is signed into the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on.

Where is my data stored? Is it private? Everything stays on your device and in your private iCloud. There’s no account, no server, no ads, and no tracking — the developer never sees your data. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I add a widget? Touch and hold the Home Screen → tap + (top-left) → search “Clock Rings” → pick a widget and add it. If a widget ever looks blank or out of date, remove it and re-add it.

The widget isn’t following Light/Dark — why? Home-Screen widgets follow the app’s Appearance setting per device (Settings → Clock & Appearance → Appearance). After changing it, remove and re-add the widget so iOS picks up the change.

What’s the USPS Virtual Timecard button? A convenience link that opens the public USPS web timecard in Safari. Clock Rings is independent and is not affiliated with USPS — it never logs in or reads anything from that page. “Reconcile with Virtual Timecard” only compares hours you paste in, on your device.

How do I leave a tip? Settings → About & Support → Tip Jar. Tips are optional, one-time, and unlock nothing — just a thank-you that supports development.
