Merit is the second app out of Eric Rogers Technology — a family chores, points, and behavior-tracking app, built with the same private, on-device philosophy as ClockRings. It's not on the App Store yet, but it's far enough along to talk about, and the TestFlight beta is open if you want to try it early.
The idea is simple: a parent adds a kid and assigns chores, the kid marks a chore done, a parent approves it, and points land in an append-only ledger. Points become rewards, allowance, or family missions everyone unlocks together — all synced privately across the family's devices through iCloud, with no account or login.
What's built so far
- The core loop — chores, approvals, points, and a reward store, plus real cash allowance tracked separately from points
- A Chore Library — roughly 285 ready-made, age-tagged chores across 23 themed packs, or build and save your own
- Teamwork — split a chore across a few kids, with a bonus when the whole team finishes
- Behavior & character growth — 0–3 behavior ratings that earn points, trend charts, a Behavior Library, and a weekly "Behavior Progress Monitoring" chart
- Kid Mode — a big, friendly, PIN-protected space where chores sit at the top and every page wears the kid's own theme
- Built for every kind of kid — grade and schooling settings, a per-kid support profile for autism/ADHD/sensory needs, a First–Then board, and a Calm Down screen
- 35 themes, or design a custom one — accent color, gradient, emoji, and motif
- Notifications, a Lock screen (Face ID/Touch ID/passcode), and Backup & Restore
- Runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch
Merit will be free to run your family — unlimited guardians and kids, and the whole core loop, with no caps on family size. A Merit+ tier is planned for the Chore Library, Behavior Monitoring & Charts, Reports, extra themes, and Backup & Restore. Pricing isn't final yet.
